The Darbro Cemetery
Located adjacent to the current Jordan Baptist Church site in Eagle Station. The cemetery is located just across the highway, in front of the church, and a 100 yards or so back toward Worthville. It is accessed by a private driveway over the railroad tracks, currently on private property, the condition deplorable. The surroundings have junk everywhere, although the cemetery itself is enclosed with a fence. I discussed the cemetery with the current landowner and he explained that he had erected the fence and cleared some of the overgrowth after purchasing the property. I can bear witness that I did see the remaining stumps of some small trees. He indicated that the previous owner had used the cemetery location as a hog lot, apparently the resulting loss of some headstones, as many are missing or destroyed.
Visible were headstones for:
1. J. W. Darbro, b. December 26, 1860, d. January 26, 1881, the inscription read "Our brother's blest who is at rest with Christ forever more".
2. G.W. Darbro, b. January 13, 1833, d. February 9, 1884, sharing the other side of the monument for J. W. Darbro.
3. Allie, wife of J.D. Williams, d. September 15, 1891, aged 20 years, her inscription read " Go and dwell with him above Happy with the Saviors love".
4. Sophia, wife of J.W. Darbro, b. August 18, 1855, d. August 19, 1881, her inscription read " Her end was peace".
5. Rettie, daughter of N.T. and J. Darbro, b. March 16, 1877, d. May 19, 1877, the inscription reading " Weep not father and mother for me for I am waiting in glory for thee".
This proved to be an emotional experience, both for the significance of locating the cemetery for the first time, and then witnessing the unscrupulous condition of that Holy ground. This is a listing of those said to be buried here.

Henry County cemeteries
Information has surfaced of a mid-1800 hamlet by the name of Harper's Ferry. Indications are that Rebecca Troxell Blackaby and her husband John Blackaby operated a county store there. Rebecca, a daughter of George and Nancy Hammonds, and John are buried at Grub Ridge Cemetery. The location of Harper's Ferry was at the junction of Grub Ridge and Harper's Ferry road, now known as "Harper Ferry-Lockport Road". It is a road described as leaving Lockport and crossing six mile creek. It leads back to Orville and Gest. This is the exact location of Stephens Creek and a branch of Six-Mile Creek, the stated birthplace of Thomas. Lecompte Bottom, the exact location. I am convinced that Robert is buried in this vicinity.
